IRIS is a data and research catalog of generally-accepted performance metrics used by a majority of impact investors. IRIS is housed within GIIN in order to provide the impact investing industry with baseline and other metrics for social, environmental, and financial performance.
IRIS is the leading system for measuring and managing the performance of impact investment portfolios. IRIS metrics are the most widely used in the industry and are compatible with over 50 metrics standards, frameworks, and analytics platforms (including GRI, the B Assessment, PRI, Aeris, SPTF, and others).
Since 2009, GIIN has led four IRIS upgrades to ensure that information is current with industry trends. As part of the IRIS Upgrade Working Group, Richard, along with other industry experts, will help to provide GIIN with expertise and feedback that will allow them to ensure that IRIS is able to:
- Aggregate portfolios through KPIs;
- Align to the SDGs;
- Adhere to the five dimensions of impact as defined by the Impact Management Project
- Integrate existing work from Navigating Impact and the Impact Toolkit
- Provide guidance on how to use the defined KPIs
Stay tuned for more information about Richard’s involvement with this exciting and important project.
